Founded in 1950, is one of the most active sailing clubs in the Italian and international sports landscape and one of the most well-known television . Affiliated to the Italian Sailing Federation , has more than three hundred members enrolled . It seems almost superfluous to tell the story of the Circle Gargnano because he boasts as the family coat of arms and say " Circle " is synonymous with " Centomiglia " so the two are actually related to each other by origin and development. But in addition to the now famous race " Centomiglia " the club organizes many others as the " Cento Cup ," try to call on the world circuit of degree 1 with two races . In addition to the events offered by the local calendar , successive national championships, European or World of various categories and the racing teams of the club participate in prestigious international regattas getting increasingly important awards . For its activities in 2003 was awarded by the Olympic Committee to Circolo Vela Gargnano the Golden Star for sporting merit . In 1996 the project was born Homerus ( autonomous sailing for the blind) anointed with victory in the World Championship cat. B1 (blind absolute ) held in 2003 in the waters off the club and with the annual conference "Sailing in the sea of solidarity " reserved to all the companies that use the sport of sailing in therapeutic function .
In 2007, a new goal has been reached . Participation in the challenge of the America 's Cup with the consortium +39 which gave further spread the name of the Circolo Vela Gargnano.
In 2009 will be the organization of the World Championship Tornado to give life to one of the most compelling challenges of multihulls in the waters of Lake Garda.
The Circle of approaching young people to the sport of sailing by promotion in schools and organizing summer courses in sailing from June to mid-August with experienced instructors and providing subscribers the necessary equipment.
The Optimist sailing courses are open to children aged 6 to 11 years who have a chance to stop for a lunch in the presence of an instructor. To the young residents receive a discount on the registration fee .
This sport involves those who practice both physically (power and agility ) and mentally ( and technical knowledge of the maneuver) bringing the individual experience to the team sports.
The Circolo Vela Gargnano also organizes sailing courses for children and adults on boats and dinghies 4:20 monotype Dolphin 81
Finally collaborates with the Association amateur sports highlights and sailing with company Water Tribe , based in Milan, in the promotion of sporting events , including participation in regattas and the organization of courses on modern sailing boat Melges 20
